Northern Lights 2×9
(1988 NL#2 x 1985 NL#9)
From the fan leaves to the structure, to the terps and the flowers themselves, NL 2×9 is pure vintage Northern Lights all the way!
The 1988 NL#2 is a line that we’ve worked for decades and one that most are familiar with. The NL#9, however, is one of the least known of the original Northern Lights seed lines that Nevil received from America. Most have never heard of it, although the chain of custody is one of the clearest of all the Northern Lights seed lines. The exact lineage is the real mystery; our best guess is that NL#9 is
(Indonesian x Murphy Afghani), however it could be anything.
In 1986, Nevil introduced a hybrid of (NL#9 x Skunk #1). This was later scrapped in favor of (NL#5 x Skunk #1) and other NL offerings. The pure NL#9 line was shelved, where it remained for decades. Thanks to a couple very incredible people, the #9 was preserved.
When we at Deep Ellum were blessed with the seeds of this forgotten line, we did a selection run with the NL#9 seeds, split the line in two and then we worked each to F5.
We selected the best and have since begun to create hybrids. We thought it only fitting that the first hybrid to be released, would be with our most popular pure Northern Lights line, the NL#2.
This first-of-it’s-kind combination was made possible in part through a multi-year collaboration with AK Bean Brains, to whom we are forever grateful and indebted to.
Pairing these two inbred lines produces hybrid plants with excellent yields of sticky NL buds around 9 weeks after flowering is induced.
