This is our humble attempt at recreating the Silver Pearl that you would find in a coffee shop during the early 1990’s.
Rather than simply create S1 seeds, we chose to keep the Silver Pearl line Regular, take our time and backcross instead. Nevil’s Silver Pearl is 50% Northern Lights #5, so to maintain the integrity of the Silver Pearl we paired our coveted house cut with our ’89 NL#5 male. We also chose 1:1 pairings throughout the process for the same reason.
We released a small batch of the F1 (Silver Pearl x NL#5) seeds, but retained most to hunt for a male. From those F1’s with the NL5, we found a extremely Silver Pearl-leaning male, and hit our house cut to complete the first backcross. We repeated the process, selecting the most Silver Pearl-leaning Bx1 male that we could find, and pollinated our Silver Pearl cut, resulting in the Bx2 generation. For the 2025 winter holiday season we offered a handful of packs of the Bx2, and retained a portion of the seeds to hunt a male to use for the third backcross.
This 3rd generation backcross is even more like the original cut than the previous generation. These are stocky indicas that bush out and have sweet juicy pine and soft drink terps. These Bx3 seeds make great starting material for vintage projects, and also for instigating make-overs of modern poly-hybrids.
